This woodcut features a chair sitting a room, illuminated from a light source outside of the visible range of the picture and producing a shadow on the floor below, as well as a dramatic shadow on the wall behind it.
The chair itself is a nice example of a Welsh Stick Chair, a vernacular chair from that originates in Wales, England and goes back hundreds of years.
I made this woodcut with my own techniques that were inspired by artists such as MC Escher, Wharton Esherick and Paul Landacre.
The print measures 150 mm by 150 mm and is printed on high quality paper of approximately 215 mm by 215 mm, using an oil based ink. The entire process is done by hand, including burnishing the print with a spoon to transfer it from the block to the paper.
I also offer this print framed and matted for your convenience. Just for clarity: the pictures show the framed woodcut. If you order the woodcut only, you will receive the woodcut without a frame.
