By the fireside (framed)

This woodcut features a room with several people (and a cat) sitting around a fireplace on chairs and stools. The room is illuminated only by the blazing fire. The light is reflected on the walls, floor and on the plates standing on the mantle.

I made this woodcut inspired by the works of Vincent Van Gogh, an artist I greatly admire and who was a big fan of woodcuts (though he himself never made any).

The print measures 120 mm by 190 mm and is printed on high quality paper of approximately 215 mm by 305 mm, using an oil based ink. The entire process is done by hand, including burnishing the print with a spoon to transfer it from the block to the paper.
